Environmental Innovations - About us

Environmental Innovations was established in 2007 with a number of pollution, spill, and firewater mitigation products.  We have since moved into larger premises in Hertfordshire where we are now able to design, manufacture and build under the same roof.  Due to the company owning all of the Intellectual Property of its products we can construct bespoke solutions at relatively short notice.

Our core staff members are key figures in the environmental, wireless technology and pollution containment industry, boasting the management of a number of large and specialist projects in this sector.  The company chairman, Brian Back, is a chartered engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technology and member of The British Hydrological Society.  He brings a wealth of knowledge to the business and is also the founder of our strategic partner Radio Data Networks Ltd.  The capacity of Environmental Innovations Ltd stretches from making recommendations, to investigative consultancy, through to the production of suitable and bespoke solutions for site specific specifications.

Working closely with our clients we strive to provide cost-effective methods to ensure business continuity should an environmental incident occur.

Working closely with the Environment Agency, we have presented numerous papers at their annual conferences, and workshops and have even had a chance to contribute to their Pollution Prevention Guidelines (PPG’s) which govern best environmental practice throughout England and Wales.  The Environment Agency has proved to be invaluable through knowledge exchange and resources throughout our working together.  Reflecting our working relationship, we have had Dr. Paul Leinster, chair or the EA commend our work via our free e-newsletter, ‘Containment News’ which rounds-up major spills and firewater incidents every month.

We work closely with a number of industry groups including UK Spill, APEA (Association of Petroleum and Explosives Administration), BHS (The British Hydrological Society), IET (Institute of Engineering Technology), SWIG (Sensors in Water Industry Group) and SBWWI (Society of British Water and Wastewater Industries to name but a few.

  

  

Pollution and Firewater Valves – Environmental Innovations specialises in pollution and firewater valves, engineered to provide a site with a bespoke solution for all legislations making it mandatory for a site to front up to its environmental responsibilities.  We currently have 3 core products in this range, the TelestopperTM, a portable drain blocking device, the DrainstopperTM, an inflatable device, and the FlapstopperTM, a heavy duty stainless steel device, which can be fully automated as part of your environmental and building management system.

 

Flood Alarms – With flooding on the rise, affecting an increasing number of people, we have developed a range of solutions for remote flood alarm systems, which can be battery, solar or mains operated.  With our unique design in the market place, we provide a product with no moving parts, easy serviceability, and no calibration.  Our solutions can work on low powered radio meaning GSM is not needed.  Should you prefer GSM messaging to be linked in to your system, this can be added as an option.

 

Interceptor Alarms/Monitoring – All new interceptors should be installed with an interceptor alarm which signifies high oil, water or silt levels.  We bring both hard-wired and wireless solutions to the interceptor alarm market.  Wireless solutions may mean you can monitor interceptors on far outreaching edges of your site with no need for hard-wiring or mains power.  In addition to this, we can offer a fully integrated web-hosting service which allows you to be in control of your interceptors.

 

Wireless Technology – Our knowledge in the wireless industry makes us a market leading in wireless environmental protection mitigation techniques.  Integrating wireless call-points with the FlapstopperTM system for example can mean your workers can use the system seamlessly with other health, safety and environmental practices on site.  This comes with the added benefit of not having to hard-wire new bits of kit which can be timely, costly and disruptive.  Wireless automation of our products puts you in the driving seat increasing the potential ways you can manage your environmental actions on site.

 

Information Area – Use this section to find environmental legislation which gives advice as to the current best practices and best available techniques.  We have also created a range of easy-to-read ‘Green Papers’ which highlight and recommend suitable solutions to different sectors of industry.  These information documents provide a light read which highlight issues you may have on your site from a new and maybe unexplored perspective.
