"Standard" Control Interface for Containment Systems

Unique to the Industry, we offer customers and installers alike the ability to build or expand their own bespoke containment systems using our MKI Standard Control Panel interface.

The interface is designed to ease field servicing and to permit panel swaps and upgrades in the field with the minimum of down time or expense.

The configuration above is the most simple configuration, where the operation is manually triggered using a latching push button or break glass call point with a closing contact. The contact of the push button needs to be rated to carry the strobe current (if fitted) plus the relay current of 100mA.

The Second configuration is where the panel is triggered by an instrument or transducer. This for example could be a PH sensor, Turbidity detector or Oil Separator Alarm.

The third configuration is a special configuration that should be ordered in advance as this requires the alarm contacts from the EIL0027 Power Supply/Charger to be brought to the terminal strip. In this configuration the outputs are connected to a local PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) or Remote Telemetry Units (RTU) which can be connected into the plant SCAD system.

The fourth Configuration illustrates how the panel can be triggered remotely using a GSM/SMS/GPRS Radio Switch or a Radio Telemetry Unit or Pager Switch. In this configuration you will note that the input is wired in parallel with the Trigger input from the Instrument.

The above are just a few of the configurations on offer that are equally applicable for DrainstopperTM and FlappstopperTM Containment Systems.

Note: In all case the relay contact that triggers the panel should be latched until the incident is cleared. Inflation / pressure regulation is controlled within the panel automatically. In cases where the switch is a transistor of MOSFET switch please observe polarity and ensure that the switch is driven hard into saturation with an ICE Max of ideally 500mA plus is protected by a back EMF catch DIODE.
